HUS Pharmacy – Automatic storage and retrieval system procurement

Background

HUS Pharmacy is Finland’s largest hospital pharmacy and supplies medicines to the Helsinki and Uusimaa areas and the municipalities nearby. When the operations were expanding and the facilities were becoming too small, it was decided to purchase an automated storage and retrieval robot.

Assignment and results

EP-Logistics worked as a specialist in automatic materials handling and storage systems in the procurement negotiations. EP-Logistics attended in defining the logistics requirements, calculating the capacity requirements, describing these in the requirements specification documents sent to the suppliers and participating in the negotiations held with the suppliers. After the negotiations, EP-Logistics was involved in drawing up the documents connected to the invitation to tender that included also the functional requirements of the equipment and test plan. Later in a separate assignment EP-Logistics assisted the customer in testing the installed equipment.
